Tailgate Talk #001: Storm Ready in 90 Seconds

This isn’t a checklist. It’s your life insurance.
Every storm deployment has two types of linemen:
The one who’s ready… and the one who gets in the way.
If you’ve done this long enough, you’ve seen it.
Someone shows up with busted gear, missing tools, or dragging ass from the night before.
And when the heat’s on? That’s the guy you have to work around.
That’s not gonna be you.
So here’s your 90-second rundown before you even touch a truck door:
1. Boots
Check the tread. Check the stitching. No rot, no wear, no excuses.
Wet boots and cheap soles have put more linemen in pain than high voltage ever did.
2. FR Clothing
No holes. No burn-throughs. No soaked-through cotton layered underneath.
If you wouldn't trust it to take an arc flash, it doesn't belong on your back.
3. Harness & Fall Protection
Look at every strap, buckle, and D-ring like your spine depends on it.
Because it does.
4. Tools
You know your own loadout. Open your bag and actually look.
The guy who shows up without a knife, stick ruler, or Lowell wrench better have one hell of a personality.
5. Your Mindset
Hydrated. Fed. Focused. No drama from back home clouding your head.
Storm work is dangerous enough without distractions.
We don’t run these talks to fill time.
We do them because someone doesn’t go home every season.
If you’re gonna be out here with us, be worth the spot.
